Top 10 Bible Verses About Faith with Explanations

You must have heard several times in your life that faith is evidence of certain things that you haven’t seen in life or represent things you have hoped for. And, this is true to its core. But, it is important to know the difference between having abstract knowledge about what faith is and spiritual knowledge about understanding what it is to have faith.

In short, knowing the definition of faith is one thing, whereas experiencing faith is something better and bigger. This post features the top 10 Bible Verses about faith that would help you to experience faith from a point that’s closely connected with God.

1. FIRST THESSALONIANS 1:2-3

THE VERSE – “We thank God for all of you while constantly mentioning you when praying and remembering before our Father and God for your work of faith, steadfastness of hope, and labor of love in Lord Jesus Christ.”

EXPLANATION – This verse rightly fits with James’s verse which says, “Faith without works is dead.” It will be discussed next. Therefore, this verse proves what James was saying. It means that believers have a labor of love and work of faith. Besides, faith is real because it labors naturally and produces work. As such, people can have good works come out because of the result of faith. Hence, the results of your good works prove that your faith is genuine.

2. JAMES 2:17

THE VERSE – “If faith does not have works by itself, it is dead.”

EXPLANATION – In simple terms, if your faith doesn’t produce works, it is probably dead. Therefore, if you believe that you have faith but don’t have works to show that your faith is real, you are lying not to yourself, but also others. In addition, you are lying to God as well. Faith that saves you is the one that works. Also, it isn’t the work alone that saves you. Rather, it is faith that works and it saves you. It’s called genuine faith.

3. EPHESIANS 2:8

THE VERSE – “By grace, you were saved through faith. This is not your doing but it is a gift from God.”

EXPLANATION – People are saved by their works as a contribution to their salvation. However, this should be a matter of concern because even Apostle Paul had struggled with sin and he was unable to do sufficient good works to ensure his salvation. However, it is by the grace of God (an unmerited gift) that saves people. Still, it isn’t the faith alone but the one that produces works. People are saved through faith and the faith lies in Jesus Christ.

4. TITUS 11:1-2

THE VERSE – “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ and a servant of God, for the sake of knowledge of truth and faith of God, which corresponds to godliness, which God, in hope of the eternal life and who does not lie, promised before ages began.”

EXPLANATION – Paul explains that the underlying faith of people in God is dependent on their knowledge about truth and it reveals that faith is either evidence or conviction. And, the conviction or evidence is said to be the ope of eternal life and which lies in God and who does not lie. While many men are liars, God never lies. God promised eternal life to people who have faith in Him. And, it is true because people can believe Him.

5. HEBREWS 11:30

THE VERSE – “Even the walls of Jericho fell down by faith after they stood still for seven days.”

However, with faith in the Almighty God, these walls will reduce to rubble.

6. HEBREWS 11:6

THE VERSE – “But without faith, it is not possible to please God, for people who come to Him must believe in His existence, and that He will reward those who seek Him diligently.”

EXPLANATION – Simply put, you can’t please a person that you don’t know well. And, how can you know someone if you don’t believe in their existence? So, believe first and the rest will follow.

7. MATTHEW 21:21

THE VERSE – So Jesus said to them, “With assurance, I say to you that if you do not doubt and have faith, you not only do what you did to the fig tree but also when you say to the mountain, emove and cast into the sea,’ and it would be done.”

8. MATTHEW 21:22

THE VERSE – “And whatever you ask in your prayers with belief, you will receive.”

EXPLANATION – Faith or belief of this kind does not ask for more money, a big house, cars, or even things like revenge or popularity. The faith that gets you what you ask for is the thing that tends to bring you close to God. Besides, the things will benefit their kingdom on earth as well. So, God answers your prayers when what you pray for brings you closer to the Almighty.

It’s a belief that Satan and his followers believe as well.
